Dream Catchers

Dream Catchers – For some reason this made me think…Would you want to “catch” a dream?
What would catching a dream really mean? Maybe it would mean that you would share your dream with someone else, and they would catch your enthusiasm, your passion, your purpose. If this is what dream catching meant, that it would probably be a great thing. People do this all the time! Who you might ask? What about: the great motivators, the great leaders, the great coaches, the great parents, the great artists, the great authors, the great storytellers, the great teachers. Can you think of anyone else?

Now, if catching my dream meant that I caught it – prevented it from developing, kept it from happening, blocked it in some way, then I am not so certain that catching my dream would be what I would want to do. But, don’t we do that all the time? How many times have we doubted ourselves? How many times have we blocked our own dreams for one reason or another? How many times have we blocked (or caught) the dreams of others? Why? The famous question that many sales people know comes to mind, WIIFM? I call it “Wifit”. It stands for “What’s In It For Me?” My question is what benefit do you derive when you block your dream or someone else’s? It serves some type of purpose? What is the purpose of the block? When you can reflect on this and understand it, then you can determine if this block is one you wish to keep repeating for this dream, or one you wish to “surrender”.

Dream Catchers from the Indian culture are beautiful. They represent catching the bad dreams and preventing them from entering your heart, your soul, your life.

This is just another way to think about “catching” dreams.
